In addition to addressing signal jammers, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued guidelines regarding the use of signal boosters. These devices, also known as repeaters, can enhance mobile phone signal reception. However, the unauthorised use of signal boosters can cause interference with public telecommunication services, impacting the quality and scope of cellular networks.
In addition to the DoT’s warning against signal jammers, the advisory also addressed the improper use of signal boosters or repeaters. These devices can enhance cell phone signal reception, but unauthorized usage can lead to disruptions in public telecommunication services. These disruptions, in turn, can have a negative impact on the overall quality and coverage of mobile networks. To avoid such problems, the use of signal boosters should only be authorized and properly regulated by telecommunications authorities. By following these guidelines, we can ensure that mobile networks remain reliable and accessible to all users.
According to regulations in India, only certain authorized organizations are permitted to procure signal jammers that have been approved by the central government. These organizations include police forces, state or union territory governments, and defense forces.
However, the use of signal jammers is strictly prohibited for private sector organizations and individuals. It is also illegal to advertise, sell, or distribute signal jammers within the country.
This strict policy is in place to prevent the misuse of signal jammers, which can potentially interfere with essential communication services and disrupt public safety measures. The government takes a firm stance on the issue and strives to ensure that signal jamming technology is only used in situations and by organizations that have been authorized to do so.
Signal Boosters Usage Prohibited by Law
The DoT advisory emphasises the unlawful nature of using and possessing unauthorised signal boosters in the country. Signal boosters or repeaters are devices that amplify the cell phone signal reception, but their unauthorised use can result in a disruption of public telecommunication services. This, in turn, jeopardises the quality and coverage of the network and poses a risk to crucial calls made by the public to organisations such as the police force or hospitals.
Therefore, it is unlawful for individuals and organisations to possess or use signal boosters, and only licensed telecom service providers can utilise them. The sale and distribution of such devices are also unlawful. These actions are punishable by the court, and anyone with information regarding their unlawful possession, use, or sale should inform the Wireless Monitoring Organisation (WMO) of the Department of Telecommunications.
The WMO can be contacted at 011-2905-4712 or by emailing [email protected], and necessary action will be taken in the matter. It is essential to comply with these regulations to ensure the smooth functioning of public telecommunications and prevent any disruption to crucial calls.
